A lot of my clients groan when I tell them that it's best to share one blog post a week. They don't know what to write about or they don't have time to write posts that often. I'm here to tell you that consistently adding new content to your website is a great way to keep your followers engaged AND it's great for SEO too! So, today, I'm sharing five blog post ideas that will have your readers engaged and looking for more.
Just like this very post that you are reading now, posts with lists of items are always popular with readers. They don't take much commitment from the reader, and they typically share great information in a clear and concise way. Oh, and readers tend to like odd numbered lists, so stick to 3, 5 and 7 (or more, if you are an overachiever). Lists of quick tips, steps to complete a process or even favorite products or companies are great places to start.
Blog posts that share how to make something are very popular with blog post readers. Think Pinterest, people! If you are a creative business, there are probably a ton of great DIY projects you could share with your followers. I once shared a whole post on how to tie the perfect bow - with photos. To this day, that post is one of my most popular. Find something that you make or do and share how to do it with your followers.
Behind the Scenes
Readers love to see "behind the curtain", so to speak. Write a blog post that shares what your office or workspace looks like. You can also write a "day in the life" blog post, so your readers can see how you spend your day. Sharing special little tricks and tips during these posts are great ways to keep your readers engaged too.
Before and After
Come on, admit it, you LOVE to look at those before and after photos on social media -- whether it's a makeover, weight loss story or even a home remodel. Look for opportunities to share these type of stories with your followers. Some ideas include office remodels, supplies to final product and first project vs. current project. Don't forget the pictures!
Nope, I'm not talking about a rodeo or weed killer. Round up posts are blog posts that round up great content from your blog or other blogs and share them (well, their links) in one post. These posts can be a lot of fun for you and readers too. Some of my favorite ideas are: a round up of your favorite (or most popular) posts ever, things you use everyday and where to find them, best things on the internet for that week, and favorite blog posts on a specific topic.
Hopefully these five ideas will help you generate some fun content for your blog readers. If you need more help with blogging or would like me to review and edit your posts, please contact me. I'm always happy to help!
